Privacy Policy
Effective date / Last updated: July 30, 2026
This Privacy Policy ("Policy") describes how Joslin Solutions LLC ("Company," "we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, stores, discloses, and protects information when you access or use the BiteRanks mobile application (the "App") and any related websites, features, and services, including the marketing site at biteranks-app.web.app (collectively, the "Services").
By downloading, installing, creating an account, or otherwise using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.
Certain provisions of this Privacy Policy, including those relating to personalized advertising, California privacy rights, and advertising opt-out mechanisms, apply only where such features are enabled or where required by applicable law.
1. Eligibility
BiteRanks is intended for individuals who are at least thirteen (13) years of age. Where a higher age is required by law in your jurisdiction to use the Services or to consent to data processing, you must meet that higher age requirement.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of thirteen (13), or from individuals who are otherwise ineligible to use the Services. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will promptly delete it in accordance with applicable law.
2. Information We Collect
We may collect the following categories of information.
A. Account Information
Depending on how you sign in, we may collect:
- Firebase Authentication identifier
- user ID
- anonymous account identifiers (where you use anonymous sign-in)
- email address (where provided through Google Sign-In or otherwise)
- display name
- Google Sign-In credentials (where used)
- profile image (if voluntarily provided)
B. Ratings, Votes, and Leaderboard Information
To operate BiteRanks, we collect information related to ratings and leaderboards, including:
- selected food categories (for example French Fries or Cheeseburgers)
- restaurant and menu item selections
- criterion answers and computed scores
- score nudges (within the allowed range)
- optional notes you write about a rating
- locked votes and vote timestamps
- category unlock status after a rewarded ad
- leaderboard rankings and aggregate scores (Global, Nation, and US State scopes)
- re-rate cooldown and related integrity checks
C. Location Scope Information
Nation and US State leaderboards use geographic scope that you select in your profile (for example country and, where applicable, US state). We do not use continuous GPS tracking to place you on those boards. Profile location choices may be stored with your account and associated with votes so boards can be computed correctly.
D. Device Information
We may automatically collect:
- device model
- operating system
- device language
- IP address (where available)
- application version
- mobile carrier
- device identifiers
- advertising identifiers
- crash logs and diagnostic information (where crash reporting or diagnostics are enabled)
E. Advertising Information
To support the Services through advertising, our advertising partners may process certain information, including:
- Android Advertising Identifier (AAID)
- Apple Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA), where available
- device identifiers
- advertising interaction data
- ad impressions (including banner ads and rewarded unlock ads)
- advertising performance information
- consent and privacy preference signals, where collected
Advertising services are currently provided through Google AdMob and other providers that may be introduced in the future. BiteRanks is free to download. Banner ads may appear on main pages. A rewarded advertisement may be required to unlock that category's leaderboards after you lock a vote. The App does not offer real-money prizes or cash rewards.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use information to:
- create and manage user accounts;
- authenticate users (including anonymous and Google Sign-In flows);
- compute scores and store locked votes;
- display notes and leaderboards at Global, Nation, and US State scopes;
- enforce per-category unlock after a rewarded ad;
- detect abuse, spam, and vote manipulation;
- investigate suspicious activity;
- improve App performance and reliability;
- serve and measure advertisements;
- provide customer support;
- comply with legal obligations;
- enforce our Terms of Service (where published).
4. Legal Basis for Processing
Where required by applicable law, we process personal information because:
- processing is necessary to perform our contract with you;
- processing is necessary for our legitimate business interests;
- processing is required by law; or
- you have provided consent where consent is required.
5. How We Disclose Information
We do not sell your personal information for monetary or other valuable consideration.
However, certain advertising-related disclosures involving advertising identifiers or similar information used for cross-context behavioral advertising may constitute "sharing" under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (collectively, the "CCPA").
Where applicable, you may exercise your right to opt out of such sharing as described in Section 11 ("Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information") below.
We may disclose information to the following categories of recipients:
A. Service Providers
Including:
- Google Firebase (including Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, and Hosting, as used)
- Google Cloud Platform
- Google AdMob
- analytics providers (where enabled)
- customer support providers
- fraud prevention and integrity providers
- cloud hosting providers
These providers may process information solely for purposes of providing services on our behalf.
B. Legal Requirements
We may disclose information where necessary to:
- comply with legal obligations;
- respond to lawful requests;
- investigate fraud or abuse;
- enforce our agreements;
- protect our users;
- protect the security or integrity of the Services.
6. Integrity and Abuse Prevention
Because BiteRanks relies on user ratings and leaderboards, we may monitor accounts for abuse. We reserve the right to:
- investigate suspicious activity;
- verify eligibility;
- limit or reverse improperly obtained unlocks or votes;
- suspend accounts;
- permanently terminate accounts engaged in abuse.
7. Data Retention
We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary to:
- provide the Services;
- maintain leaderboards and account history;
- maintain security;
- resolve disputes;
- comply with legal obligations;
- prevent fraud and abuse.
Retention periods vary depending upon the nature of the information and applicable legal requirements.
8. Your Privacy Rights
Depending upon your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- access your personal information;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete personal information;
- restrict certain processing;
- object to certain processing;
- receive a portable copy of your information;
- withdraw consent where applicable.
California residents may possess additional rights under the CCPA. Privacy requests may be submitted to info@realmforgeapp.com.
9. Account Deletion
You may request deletion of your account by:
- using the in-app deletion feature (where available); or
- emailing info@realmforgeapp.com.
Certain information may be retained where required to:
- comply with legal obligations;
- prevent fraud and abuse;
- resolve disputes;
- maintain integrity of aggregate leaderboards where personal identifiers have been removed;
- enforce our legal rights.
10. Advertising Choices
You may control advertising preferences through both the App and your device settings. Depending upon your jurisdiction and device, you may:
- enable Limit personalized ads in Profile;
- reset your advertising identifier;
- limit ad tracking (including Apple App Tracking Transparency prompts on iOS);
- disable personalized advertising in device settings;
- opt out of cross-context behavioral advertising where applicable;
- manage consent prompts where presented in the App.
If you disable personalized advertising or submit a valid opt-out request, advertisements will continue to appear within the Services but may become non-personalized or contextual. Rewarded ads used to unlock category leaderboards may still be required for that unlock feature, even when ads are non-personalized.
Google and other advertising providers may also offer additional privacy controls through their own privacy settings.
11. Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
We do not sell your personal information for monetary or other valuable consideration.
However, under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (collectively, the "CCPA"), the term "share" has a broader legal meaning than "sell." It includes making certain personal information available to third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising, even where no money changes hands.
To support the Services through advertising, we may make limited information available to advertising partners, including:
- advertising identifiers (such as the Android Advertising Identifier or Apple Identifier for Advertisers);
- device identifiers;
- advertising interaction information;
- application usage information relating to advertising performance.
Where personalized advertising is enabled, this activity may constitute "sharing" under California law.
We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of individuals under eighteen (18) years of age.
California residents have the right to direct us not to sell or share their personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You may exercise this right by:
- enabling Limit personalized ads in the BiteRanks Profile screen (Do Not Sell or Share);
- submitting a request through our website;
- contacting us at info@realmforgeapp.com.
After receiving and verifying a valid request, we will cease sharing personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising to the extent required by applicable law.
If you exercise your opt-out rights:
- advertisements will continue to appear within the Services;
- advertisements may become non-personalized or contextual;
- your ability to rate items, lock votes, and unlock category leaderboards will not be denied solely because you opted out of personalized advertising, though a rewarded ad (which may be non-personalized) may still be required to unlock boards.
You may also reset or limit advertising identifiers through your mobile device settings.
12. Security
We maintain commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. However, no electronic transmission or storage system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. International Users
BiteRanks is presently intended for users located within the United States. If the Services become available internationally, information may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions with different privacy protections than those in your country of residence.
14. Third-Party Services
The Services integrate with third-party providers including:
- Google Firebase
- Google Authentication
- Google AdMob
- future advertising, analytics, authentication, and hosting providers
These third parties maintain their own privacy practices, which are governed by their respective privacy policies.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may revise this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our Services, legal obligations, or business practices. Material changes will be posted within the App or on our website together with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the Services after the effective date of any revision constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
